The Artistic Afternoons at the Bastide du Roy: when art comes alive under the Antibes sun.

At the Bastide du Roy, art is never far away. From its history to its gardens, every stone, every olive tree, and every sculpture tells a story — one that began in the days of Jeanne Lanvin and continues today with the Gismondi family. The artworks, antiques, and architectural details woven throughout the estate make the Bastide a place where art is deeply rooted in its very soul.

It was therefore only natural for us to launch, in July and August 2025, the Artistic Afternoons — a series of gatherings designed to share the creative spirit and timeless beauty of the Bastide with all those who wish to experience art in a different light.

The concept: a historic setting for free creation

The Artistic Afternoons were conceived as an open space for emerging contemporary artists — painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators, and budding architects — to draw inspiration freely from the estate. The sessions, held on July 16th and August 13th, 2025, welcomed around twenty artists each afternoon.

There was no imposed theme, only a poetic intention: every creation had to subtly reflect the spirit of the place — a certain light, the curve of a stone, the rhythm of an olive tree, or the shimmer of the sky. Originally designed by the renowned landscape architect Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, the gardens of the Bastide became the stage for a rare dialogue between heritage and modernity — a moment where art meets nature, and each artist finds their own inspiration.

A summer of encounters and shared inspiration

Seeing the Bastide come alive in a new way — hearing the conversations, the laughter, the gentle sound of brushes on canvas — was an absolute joy for our entire team. Even more moving was witnessing how deeply the estate continues to inspire, after so many decades of artistic history.

And for 2026?

The success of this year’s sessions was such that we’ve decided to make the Artistic Afternoons a monthly event from April to November 2026! We’ll be sharing the exact dates at the start of next year so everyone can plan ahead and reserve their spot.

Registrations will, as always, be open via the “Instant Art” section on our website. More artists, more creations, more encounters… we can’t wait to welcome you again and bring the Bastide to life throughout the year.
